Hawthorn West Baptist Church are ordinary people who live in Hawthorn (and Hawthorn East), Kew, Richmond, Canterbury, Ivanhoe and other nearby suburbs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Because of Jesus' life on earth, death on the cross, and return from death, we are confident that the God who made the world, is madly in love with us all!
So we take Jesus seriously in our lives and community — and have a lot of fun too!

We meet together in homes, and cafes, and have regular gatherings on Sunday morning about 10.30, with music, fun, teaching/encouragement, and a certain amount of happy chaos...
Our building is easy to find, it's close to Hawthorn train station, various trams, Swinburne University, Hawthorn West Primary School, and other local landmarks.

We're emotionally involved with and committed to serving our local and global community in a variety of ways such as playgroups, youth group, low-cost housing, fair trade, overseas aid and more.

You may believe church isn't for you.
Could be you've had a rough time with "The Church". So have some of us.
Maybe you've heard people talk about a 'relationship with Jesus' - and wondered what does that even mean?

But what if you had a chance for a small taste of being literally an adopted son or daughter of God?
What if you found a church working together to create community that's not just for the people who show up on Sunday?
Normal people who are trying to 'do justly, love mercy and walk humbly' with Jesus? Even when we mess it up?
Sounds too good to be true? Well, maybe it is :) But you might be surprised at how different church - and life! - can be when we put Jesus at the center of our lives, instead of ourselves.

So, how do I find out more? Well one way is that we all meet up every Sunday around 10.30am (for the organised stuff, we segue into hanging around and talking about 12pm).
Our gatherings are something like a (good) family get together, with lots of music and laughter, time to talk and learn about Jesus and take life seriously, to hang out together and catch up on each other's lives, and usually to eat!
Around 80-90 people show up each week, of all ages and walks of life, and nobody cares how you dress, where you live, or what you earn!
